Okay, it’s not really Denny’s but it’s like Denny’s. It’s like the Japanese version of Denny’s, but they’re called family restaurants. I guess when you become a family you become too poor to eat at real restaurants. When I was in Japan for New Year’s, after waking up at 1:30PM because of an earthquake (!!!) my cousin and I headed out to a family restaurant because they were the only place open. I felt kinda bad for the people working there, though. I was actually surprised by the sign that said they use 100% US beef. Man. They must not know how crappy the beef is out here.
Anyway, our hosts today are Nana, Mirurun, and Aya-nyan. This may be the first time I’ve seen Aya-nyan doing work on TV. Good job, Team M!
Mirurun messes up and says something is 2000 yen instead of 1000 yen. The hosts kept giving her crap even after the segment ended, haha.We take a tour through the factory where they process the meat and… ugh. I don’t know if they were trying to appeal to people but I actually got a horrible impression from watching this. Especially when they showed a big block of meat being grinded up. We also see the machine that cuts up 4 tons of onions a day. That thing was pretty cool. They use it to flavor their beef stew dressing, as nothing flavors beef like beef.
After the factory tour, they take us to a restaurant where they show us how they prepare the food. Apparently they use the conveyor belt oven for mostly everything, after a stint on the griddle. I remember in college, getting pizzas every day from that thing. Man, little did they know, they could also make hamburgers. I kinda have a craving for my college dorm food now…After the team tries their hand at preparing an entree and succeeds at it, they’re treated to hamburgers themselves. Reminds me of how Mirurun said hamburgers were her 6th favorite food. Heh.
I don’t know if it’s really that good though. I feel like it’s slightly better than an American Denny’s, but there’s still sort of fake flavor that permeates throughout the dish. Sometimes I actually do crave that flavor as I do dearly miss konbini food, and the crappy bento boxes here from Mitsuwa or Marukai are crappy but not in the konbini crappy way.
I also don’t know why but I feel like Ayame is rising in my personal ranking. She kinda reminds me of Milky in the looks department. Her face is kinda squishy but sometimes it looks fat. I have no idea what her personality is like though. Maybe it’s that mystery that’s really cool.
Then again, I see the 17歳 badge and I’m like… man. Why are they all so young…?
