First of all, before I start…
If you have a G+ please +1 me! I kinda want to win this, not because I’m the biggest fan (I’m definitely not) but… I dunno, I feel like I’d be a really good English-speaking supporter/ambassador of NMB48. I’ll +1 you back too.
Anyway, I had to split this entry up into two parts because I have a lot to say about this. It’s nothing controversial or mind-bending really, I just really like the subject matter.
Today’s topic is omelette rice. I can make a simple one, and it’s pretty easy. Saute some onions, some chicken, add some rice and some ketchup and cook it for a bit. Set it aside and make the omelette part and then cover your rice with it. The most creative thing I’ve ever done was substitute bacon for the chicken. It was pretty decent.
This episode is really interesting because we get a look at some of the variations behind it.The first restaurant he picks has two specialty omelette rice dishes. The first one is tomato-based and it looked spectacular. Instead of using ketchup he uses tomato paste, and he uses specialty tomatoes too. I’ve always wanted to make my own ketchup but I figured it would be too hard to do. This guy straight schools me. The brown sauce is a demiglace sauce, it’s kinda beefy. I’m not sure if there’s a big difference between Japanese demiglace and classical French demiglace. As far as the latter, it’s usually made from a veal stock (simmering vegetables, veal bones, and veal meat for several hours) and then reducing it to half to concentrate it. I also tried to make this by myself and failed pretty badly. I think it’s because I didn’t know you needed meat for stock, so instead I just had all body. Pretty stupid in retrospect, but hey, you live and learn. We then proceed to the other store. This one looked really rad. They made one with fried rice. They also used bacon, and it was some sort of brand name / high quality variety of bacon too. For the show, they decided to bring the beefy one in.
And as usual, KenKoba decides the NMB member to eat with them. (So far I’ve written 400-something words, and this is the first time I mention NMB. I guess I really love food too.)The way that KenKoba talks so longingly about Maachun’s sister makes me really wonder if she’s hot. Man. I wonder. I also want to meet her, lol.
Anyway after we get baited by KenKoba and Maachun, he ends up picking Akarin. She doesn’t really say much though.Things take a strange turn as the guest comedian starts talking about his pedophile ways since he wanted to hit on NMB48. That’s okay. He’s just being honest unlike some of the other wota who claim to have pure intentions. Yeah, I went there, lol.
I’ll cover the next segment next time, some great jokes in there too.
