Still working on that blog translation from Yuka. Her entry is pretty long, like my… translation. I wonder if someone did it already. Then I’d feel dumb.
The last week I was on vacation so no updates. Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans here! Not that anyone cares but a long time ago I wanted to learn how to carve a chicken. I kept buying whole chickens and cutting them up, but I didn’t like chicken that much so I would just stick all the parts in the freezer and never eat it.
But surprisingly that experience came in use as I was able to successfully carve a turkey. Yeah!
News has been pretty sparse. Variety-wise we only have Docking and Teens Hakusho.
We do have LODs now. I watched a couple of them and I’m becoming more and more impressed with Team M.
LEGION OF DOOM WITH HAWK AND ANIMAL! WHAT A RUSH!
-Live on Demand service started!
Team N is great, talent-wise; they definitely have stuff they can do quite well. Just with the top 5, Sayaka can sing, Milky can seduce, Nana can do variety, Ainyan can do athletic challenges like run a marathon, and Maachun can compete in comedian tournaments. And performance wise they’ve all been really good. Their MCs went from really awkward in the beginning to completely solid with Rikanyan leading, and they also have great talkers in Haruna, Kanakichi… well, pretty much everyone. But Team M, man. If Team N is a bunch of honor students, Team M is like the crazy genius who says weird stuff but always aces the tests. Except I’m not sure they’d ace the tests. Maybe they’d get solid Bs. Also Team M still doesn’t have Ayanyan back. Still, you look at their top 5(unit leaders): Airi, Momoka, Fuuko, Keila, Ayanyan. What an eclectic group. If we go by archetype, you have an ikemen, a psycho, a typical idol, a loli halfie, and a seductress. Man. It’s almost as funky as the Village People. We also have comedian Hitomin and some talent in their leader Shimarena. It’s also fun to watch because you know they understand the need to have good chemistry, but those kinds of personalities just aren’t supposed to mesh well… BUT THEY DO.
Although I miss Jou, Team M was probably too focused on Jou. Having no Jou makes it so much more… refreshing.
Everything about Team M screams wild fun. I love it. I’m looking for to what niche Momoka will carve out. I’m looking forward to Keila’s talent blossoming, if she’ll be the next Akimoto Sayaka, or something more. Can Ayanyan eclipse Milky’s fishing? How flustered will Fuuchan be with her Team M compadres?
Exciting.Team B was okay. They are surprisingly good at dancing, although, that’s pretty much all they have to work with since they have no variety save for Aruaru YY. However, Shu…
Shu’s smile and energy is amazing. While she’s definitely looked at as the Jou replacement, I don’t like seeing it like that. Still… there’s something massively compelling about her. There was also another girl that caught my eye but I forgot her name. She had great natural charisma though and I thought her MC was funny. And… with all that said, I was disappointed in the lack of live singing. Of the LODs I’ve seen, not one had a live track… though Sayaka’s Bird seemed like it was live, I wasn’t sure. Come on. Someone. Anyone. Sing live.
Well at least you can watch the MCs.
-The ongoing Sayaka/Milky photobook battle. And tears.
So during the press conference where both girls debuted their photobook, a reporter asked them for their sexiest picture. Milky just smiles, and pages to her shower shot where she’s naked behind a blurry shower door. All of a sudden, Sayaka starts tearing up before showing a shot where she’s bent over in front of the camera.
I don’t know if it was random tears. Maybe ninjas were cutting onions behind stage. But the impression that I got was that she was really uncomfortable with this. And for some reason, that made me respect her even more. Maybe because I think she’s still trying to hold on to her dignity. It always does seem like she’s trying to deflect attention away from gravure or using her body to elevate her to the top. Some of her jokes are kind of dirty, and off the top of my head I’m thinking of that episode of Geinin where she compares her breasts to baseballs (and later, softballs, when Gotou asks her which size they’re more likely to be). But she’s never felt… cheap.
On the other hand, I’m kind of disappointed with Milky’s reactions, or rather, the lack thereof. If Sayaka’s tears represented some sort of last ditch effort to hold on to dignity, then Milky’s lack of tears or embarrassment… is like a lack of dignity. While I think she looks phenomenal and super hot in these pictures, (Oshiri sister? More like Oshiri-sista, gurlfren~!) there are a lot of shots that give me the feeling that I’m a voyeur/peeping-tom. And it’s really awkward. I don’t like that. At least with her shameless flirting (you can call it fishing but we all know what it really is in English) there was somewhat of a personal connection. Now I get the feeling that fans are peeking at her in the shower. And really, what do guys do when they peek at girls in the shower? Yo, I watch CSI, I know what they do. Yack.
Also I think it’s hypocritical to ask them to not experience love, but then take pictures that give these terrible impressions.
On the other hand, I should probably not care about this stuff, and just stick to what I like them all for: comedy and entertainment. Yeah.
